Here's the country stuff Pam Tillis Garth Brooks
Maybe It Was Memphis Looking at you through a misty moonlight Katydids sing like a symphony Porch swing swaying like a Tennessee lullaby Melody blowing thru the willow tree What was I s'posed to do Standing there looking at you Lonely boy far from home Maybe it was Memphis Maybe it was southern summer nights Maybe it was you, maybe it was me But it sure felt right Read about you in a Faulkner novel Met you once in a Williams play Heard about you in a country love song Summer night beauty took my breath away What was I s'posed to do Standing there looking at you Lonely boy far from home Maybe it was Memphis Maybe it was southern summer nights Maybe it was you, maybe it was me But it sure felt right Every night now since I've been back home Lie awake drifting in my memory Think about you on my mama's front porch swing Talking that way, so soft to me What was I s'posed to do Standing there looking at you Lonely boy far from home Maybe it was Memphis Maybe it was southern summer nights Maybe it was you, maybe it was me But it sure felt right You know it sure felt right Maybe it was Memphis Maybe it was Memphis Maybe it was Memphis But it sure felt right ... When You Come Back To Me Again there's a ship out on the ocean At the mercy of the sea It's been tossed about Lost and Broken Wandering Aimlessly And god somehow you know that ship is me cause theres a light house in a harbor shinning faithfully puring its light out across the water for the sinking soul to see thaat someone out there still believes in me on a pryer in a song i hear your voice and it keeps me hanging on oh, raining down against hte wind i'm reaching out till we reach the circle end when you come back to me again theres a moment that we all come to in our time and in our space for all that we've done we can undo if our hearts in the right place (chrous) And again i see my yesterdays in f ront of me and the folding like a mystery your changing all that isnt use to be (chrous) When you come back to me again The Dance Looking back on the memory of The dance we shared 'neath the stars alone For a moment all the world was right How could I have known that you'd ever say goodbye And now I'm glad I didn't know The way it all would end the way it all would go Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain But I'd of had to miss the dance Holding you I held everything For a moment wasn't I a king But if I'd only known how the king would fall Hey who's to say you know I might have chanced it all And now I'm glad I didn't know The way it all would end the way it all would go Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain But I'd of had to miss the dance Yes my life is better left to chance I could have missed the pain but I'd of had to miss the dance The Thunder Rolls Three thirty in the morning Not a soul insight The city's lookin' like a ghost town On a moonless summer night Raindrops on the windshield There's a storm moving in He's headin' back from somewhere That he never should have been And the thunder rolls And the thunder rolls Every light is burnin' In a house across town She's pacin' by the telephone In her faded flannel gown Askin' for miracle Hopin' she's not right Prayin' it's the weather That's kept him out all night And the thunder rolls And the thunder rolls The thunder rolls And the lightnin' strikes Another love grows cold On a sleepless night As the storm blows on Out of control Deep in her heart The thunder rolls She's waitin' by the window When he pulls into the drive She rushes out to hold him Thankful he's alive But on the wind and rain A strange new perfume blows And the lightnin' flashes in her eyes And he knows that she knows And the thunder rolls And the thunder rolls The thunder rolls And the lightnin' strikes Another love grows cold On a sleepless night As the storm blows on Out of control Deep in her heart The thunder rolls She runs back down the hallway To the bedroom door She reaches for the pistol Kept in the dresser drawer Tells the lady in the mirror He won't do this again Cause tonight will be the last time She'll wonder where he's been Wild Horses From a phone booth in Cheyenne I made a promise to Diane No more rodeos I'd gone my last go 'round The same promise that I made In San Antone and Santa Fe But tonight I saddled up And let her down Wild horses keep draggin' me away And I'll lose more than I'm gonna win someday Wild horses just stay wild And her heart is all I break Wild horses keep draggin' me away She'll watch me drive around her block Gettin' courage up to stop To make her one more promise That I can't keep The way I love the rodeo I guess I should let her go Before I hurt her more Than she loves me Wild horses keep draggin' me away And I'll lose more than I'm gonna win someday Wild horses just stay wild And her heart is all I break Wild horses keep draggin' me away Collin Raye Love, Me I read a note my grandma wrote back in nineteen twenty-three Grandpa kept it in his coat, and he showed it once to me He said: "Boy, you might not understand, but a long, long time ago, Grandma's daddy didn't like me none, but I loved your Grandma so." We had this crazy plan to meet and run away together Get married in the first town we came to, and live forever But nailed to the tree where we were supposed to meet, instead Of her, I found this letter, and this is what it said: If you get there before I do, don't give up on me. I'll meet you when my chores are through I don't know how long I'll be. But I'm not gonna let you down, darling wait and see. And between now and then, till I see you again, I'll be loving you. Love, me. I read those words just hours before my Grandma passed away, In the doorway of a church where me and Grandpa stopped to pray I know I'd never seen him cry in all my fifteen years But as he said these words to her, his eyes filled up with tears (chrous) Between now and then, till I see you again, I'll be loving you Love, me. One Boy, One Girl He finally gave in to his friend's girlfriend When she said, "there's someone you should meet" At a crowded restaurant way cross town He waited impatiently When she walked in their eyes met and they both stared And right there and then everyone else disappeared but One boy, one girl, two hearts beating wildly To put it mildly it was love at first sight He smiled, she smiled, and they knew right away This was the day they'd waited for all their lives And for a moment the whole world revolved Around one boy and one girl In no time at all they were standing there In the front of a little church In front of their friends and family Repeating those sacred words Preacher said, "son kiss your bride" and he raised her veil Like the night they met time just stood still (Chorus) He was holding her hand when the doctor looked up and grinned "congratulations, twins" (chrous)

Cyndi Thomas What I Really Meant To Say It took me by surprise When I saw you standin' there Close enough to touch Breathin' the same air You asked me how I'd been I guess that's when I smiled and said just fine Oh, but baby I was lyin' What I really meant to say Is I'm dyin' here inside And I miss you more each day There's not a night I haven't cried And baby, here's the truth I'm still in love with you (And, that's what I really meant to say) And as you walked away The echo of my words Cut just like a knife Cut so deep it hurt I held back the tears Held on to my pride and watched you go I wonder if you'll ever know What I really meant to say Is I'm dyin' here inside And I miss you more each day There's not a night I haven't cried And baby, here's the truth I'm still in love with you (And, that's what I really meant to say) What I really meant to say Is I'm really not that strong No matter how I try I'm still holdin' on And here's the honest truth I'm still in love with you And, that's what I really meant to say That's what I really meant to say That's what I really meant to say Always Liked That Best Where do I start Lying on a blanket underneath the stars With your head on my chest I always liked that best I hate how times flies I still think back sometimes 'Bout your lips on my neck I always liked that best That time we took a ride Ended up down by the river side Soft touch wet kiss I always liked that best I like the way you used to hold me I like the way you came to know me You came to know me well well well Falling to sleep Wearing your shirt 'cause it smelled so sweet Who could forget I always liked that best Or losing my heart every time you sang to me on your guitar "Lady in Red" I always liked that best I like the way you used to hold me I like the way you came to know me You came to know me well well well I could go on So many things I miss now that you're gone Your love oh yes I always liked that best There Goes The Boy There goes the boy from Santa Fe Who lost his momma in the second grade Played Romeo in his high school play He's never been in an airplane There goes the boy who goes to town To poeple watch and just hang out He likes to sing in the car out loud With the windows rolled down And I'd give anything to hold him again Cause it still breaks my heart each time when He walks by my window,oh no There goes the boy who made me smile Danced with me down a grocery isle I taught him how to dress in style His kisses always drove me wild There goes the boy And I'd give anything to hold him again Cause it still breaks my heart each time when He walks by my window,oh no There goes the boy walking by my side He's holding her hand just like he used to hold mine There goes the boy There goes the boy There goes the boy My World (Cyndi Thomson/Chris Waters/Tommy Lee James) My world is one long hot day in Georgia Till the moon shines through the pines And my world is sweet as the honeysuckle Hanging from the vine What's it like in your world baby Won't you let me in What's it like in your world baby Maybe our world's can meet again You drove through town on your way to somewhere Just like everybody does You stopped for gas and bag o' peaches And we talked just long enough What's it like in your world baby Won't you let me in What's it like in your world baby Maybe our world's can meet again I wanna go where I've never been Let the wind blow through my hair I wanna know what it's like to take a road Just because it's there My world turns slow as molasses And you drove away so fast You disappeared down route eighty-seven Where there ain't no coming back What's it like in your world baby Won't you let me in What's it like in your world baby Maybe our world's can meet again
Jeff Carson Real Life I was young, he was old, we both were the same age Everyday playin fetch, shaking hands, hed lick my face and I was unaware the day would come And when he died, for the first time I knew what real pain was And I never was the same again From that moment on, real life began Senior high, girlfriends, football games, graduation Summer break, spent my time, fillin out applications A few superficial years went by, they were all a blur Then in the most unlikely situation, there you were (chrous) By your side, scare to death, felt the pain you were fighting Placed my palm on your head, spoke your name, just keep tryin And then you closed you eyes and took one last breath And when it was over, you looked up, I laid our baby across your breast (chrous)

Jessica Andrews You Go First You're kicking tires, I'm sitting on the fence Love's falling all around us, and it don't make sense How long can the two of us beat around the bush We're right out on the edge but we need a little push Dancing on the tightrope, wearing it thin Instead of closing our eyes and jumping in Do you want to kiss Do you want to kiss Do you want to kiss Do you want to kiss You go first You're dodging the moon and I'm playing it safe Look what we're not doing, oh boy, what a waste And what could be worse than never saying it at all Is never knowing the feeling, never feeling the fall What's it gonna take to get us both there Can't you see what I'm suggesting, it's a double dare Do you want to kiss Do you want to kiss Do you want to kiss Do you want to kiss You go first You start if you have the nerve I'll trust my heart, but you go first Do you want to kiss Do you want to kiss Do you want to kiss Do you want to kiss You go first Unbreakable Heart An empty house, a broken fairy tale A hollow girl with empty arms From an angel's tears God made the stars Why can't He make me an unbreakable heart In my blue world, you shone like Heaven's fire And left me cryin' in the dark How could anyone be so hard Did you think I had an unbreakable heart I suppose I should know Sometimes love just comes and goes But I believed, foolish me We'd go on and on One day, someone will come to you And rock you tightly in her arms Please remember this, when you drop your guard Nobody has an unbreakable heart From an angel's wings to a fallen star God makes everything but unbreakable hearts Heart Shaped World This ain't the planet I've been living on It don't circle round the sun Ever since the day you came along Everything I do revolves around you You're my only one 'Cause I'm waking up to love; I'm crossing new frontiers Living in a heart shaped world And I'm starting to see that we could stay forever here Living in a heart shaped world Now everybody knows the earth is round Chris Columbus showed us that Call me crazy but I think I've found A reason to believe, maybe history Should review the facts Now I'm waking up to love; I'm crossing new frontiers Living in a heart shaped world I'm starting to see that we could stay forever here Living in a heart shaped world I've heard that love can turn your world around But you have changed the shape of my world somehow Everything I do revolves around you Now I'm waking up to love; I'm crossing new frontiers Living in a heart shaped world And I'm starting to see that we could stay forever here Living in a heart shaped world I Will Be There For You When I lost faith You believed in me When I stumbled You were right there For every act of love you've done I owe you one There were hard times I know I survived Just because you stayed by my side With all I have, with all I am I promise you all my life Whenever the road is too long Whenever the wind is too strong Wherever the journey may lead to I will be there for you I will be there for you Through sorrow Or the darkest night When there's heartache Deep down inside Just like a prayer, you will be there And I promise you all my life Whenever the road is too long Whenever the wind is too strong Wherever the journey may lead to I will be there for you I will be there for you Whenever the road is too long Whenever the wind is too strong Wherever the journey may lead to I will be there for you I will be there for you I'll always be there Every Time I laid the blanket there on the shoreline And saw the water shine with the moon What kind of fool would fail to notice The best thing shining was you Oh, I laughed kinda nervous I felt you move closer And felt the world unwind Once was a stranger, not quite a lover But steadily crossing the line Carry me far away Don't hold back; I won't break Leave the ghosts behind All I know, wrong or right Just the thought of this night Will get me every time Every time Well, the voice in my head said "What are you doing?" I thought not listening to you You see I'm taking a chance I'm thinking about flying over the blue And it's crazy to be this out of practice And have it all come so naturally Don't you love knocking logic right off its axis And watch it float far out to sea Carry me far away Don't hold back; I won't break Leave the ghosts behind All I know, wrong or right Just the thought of this night Will get me every time Every time Every time Every time Every time So now here I am reading my fortune In the winding lines of your hand Oh, and I see a lost unwanted orphan Head right for the promised land Carry me far away I won't I won't break Oh Carry me far away Don't hold back; I won't break Leave the ghosts behind All I know, wrong or right Just the thought of this night Will get me every time Will get me every time Every time Helplessly, Hopelessly, Recklessly I can stand with the weight of the world On my shoulders I can fight with the toughest of the tough I can laugh in the face Of all my insecurities Anytime, anywhere, anything I'm strong enough But when you're holding me like this I'm carelessly lost in your touch I'm completely defenseless Baby, it's almost too much I'm helplessly, hopelessly, recklessly Falling in love So let consequence do what it will to us I don't care Let the stars stand as witness to it all Say the word and tonight I will follow you anywhere I just can't pretend anymore I'm too sturdy to fall But when you're holding me like this I'm carelessly lost in your touch I'm completely defenseless Baby, it's almost too much I'm helplessly, hopelessly, recklessly Falling in love I am not afraid I am not afraid 'Cause when you're holding me like this I'm carelessly lost in your touch I'm completely defenseless Baby, it's almost too much I'm helplessly, hopelessly, recklessly Falling... (Helplessly, hopelessly, recklessly falling) I'm helplessly, hopelessly, recklessly Falling in love Who I Am If I live to be a hundred And never see the seven wonders That'll be alright If I don't make it to the big leagues If I never win a Grammy I'm gonna be just fine 'Cause I know exactly who I am I am Rosemary's granddaughter The spitting image of my father And when the day is done My momma's still my biggest fan Sometimes I'm clueless and I'm clumsy But I've got friends who love me And they know just where I stand It's all a part of me And that's who I am So when I make big mistake When I fall flat on my face I know I'll be alright Should my tender heart be broken I will cry those teardrops knowin' I will be just fine 'Cause nothin' changes who I am I am Rosemary's granddaughter The spitting image of my father And when the day is done My momma's still my biggest fan Sometimes I'm clueless and I'm clumsy But I've got friends who love me And they know just where I stand It's all a part of me And that's who I am I'm a saint and I'm a sinner I'm a loser, I'm a winner I'm am steady and unstable I am young but I'm able I am Rosemary's granddaughter The spitting image of my father And when the day is done My momma's still my biggest fan Sometimes I'm clueless and I'm clumsy But I've got friends who love me And they know just where I stand It's all a part of me And that's who I am I am Rosemary's granddaughter The spitting image of my father And when the day is done My momma's still my biggest fan Sometimes I'm clueless and I'm clumsy But I've got friends who love me And they know just where I stand It's all a part of me And that's who I am

Big deal I nedd you I don't need a lot of things, I can get by with nothing Of all the blessings life can bring, I've always needed something But I've got all I want When it comes to loving you You're my only reason, You're my only truth I need you like water Like breath, like rain I need you like mercy From heaven's gate There's a freedom in your arms That carries me through I need you You're the hope that moves me To courage again You're the love that rescues me When the cold winds rage And it's so amazing 'Cause that's just how you are And I can't turn back now 'Cause you've brought me too far
